Frequently Asked Questions
Email STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG, Parasolid (.x_t), SAT, and PDF drawings to sales@digitalmachine.com. STEP files are preferred for 3D models. If you only have a napkin sketch, send it over — we'll work with whatever you've got.
Our standard tolerance is ±0.005" unless otherwise specified. We routinely hold ±0.001" and can achieve ±0.0005" on critical features with our CMM-verified inspection process.
We send firm quotes 7 days a week, often within 24 hours. With a 3D CAD model, parts can ship in as little as 3 business days from order; your quote states the ship date for your part, quantity and finish. Outside finishes such as anodize, plating or heat treat add time.
No. Quantity 1 is welcome, and so are production runs of thousands. When a prototype turns into a production part, we keep the program, fixturing and inspection plan, so reorders repeat.
Aluminum, steel, stainless steel, tool steel, brass, copper, titanium, Inconel, and engineering plastics (Delrin, nylon, PEEK, UHMW). If you have a specialty material, ask — we've probably cut it.
Yes. In-house we offer vibratory tumble finishing, bead blast, ultrasonic cleaning, deburring and laser marking. Heat treating, anodizing, plating, passivation, powder coating and other outside processes are done through vetted outside partners, and we coordinate them for you.
